Jenny Cowley (President from November 2022 – 17 August 2023)
Welcome everyone to the first edition of the OI Society newsletter for 2023.
I’d like to tell you a bit about myself.
I live in South Australia in a town called Gawler. I have lived here with my family since 1991. I’m married to David, and we have 4 children, who are all married. We have 9 grandchildren too.
My hobbies are cooking, gardening, spending time with family and art.
Our OI journey goes back to my Grandma and Aunt. They were diagnosed when they were middle-aged. My father, sister and I all live with OI type 1. We now have 13 living family members with the condition.
I joined the OI society several years ago to gain further knowledge and to meet others.
After a couple of years of catching up at Wishbone days, I was asked if I’d be interested in joining the board. In 2017, I joined the board and have been involved in the planning of 2 OI conferences.
In November 2022, it was my great privilege to be elected as the President of OI Society. I am incredibly passionate about the Society and its role in connecting the OI community. My focus over the coming years is to help others with OI and raise more awareness.
I look forward to bringing new information to the Society and bringing our members another conference in 2024, with the opportunity to work with a team of amazing people on our board.
