The current board positions are noted below along with the associated responsibilities.

President

  • Provide leadership and vision to the Society and work with the Board to develop and implement a forward-looking plan
  • Chair the monthly Society meetings over Skype.
  • Represent the Society at any formal meetings and in relevant correspondence.
  • Represent the Society with external parties

Vice President

  • Deputise for the President as required
  • Assist with incoming queries to the Society.
  • Assist the President as required

Secretary

  • Prepare the monthly meeting agenda and write the minutes.
  • Collate and monitor correspondence to the Society.
  • Manage written communications of the Society.

Treasurer

  • Manage and coordinate the Society’s financials.
  • Report the Society’s financial position monthly and prepare a financial report for the AGM. Provide advice to the Society and the Board on the ACNC financial and legal requirements.
  • Monitor the membership fees and donations.
  • Manage audit engagement and actions

Membership Officer

  • Welcome potential and new members and monitor the membership list.
  • Monitor the Society’s social media to encourage new membership discretely.
  • Consider ways to promote the Society to encourage membership development.
  • Monitor membership renewals & encourage all members to renew
  • Report monthly to the Board on membership numbers and issues.

Social Media & Website Content Manager (*new position)

  • Curate and publish meaningful, accurate and high-quality content for all of the Society’ social channels.
  • Engage, moderate and communicate with followers of the Society’s social channels.
  • Share content from similar organisations.
  • Ensure the Society’s ethics, values and mission are portrayed.
  • Ensure alignment and consistency with the Society’s branding across all social media channels.
  • Update and edit content on the OI Society’s website, ensuring content is relevant and accurate.
  • Where possible, streamline the website’s accessibility so it is easy to navigate for users.
  • Monitor site statistics to assess what information users access most, to ensure it is most easily accessible.

Conference & Fundraising Coordinator (*new position)

  • Coordinate the Biennial Conference
  • Report monthly to the wider board on plans & progress in a conference year.
  • Work with local membership to foster local participation and volunteers.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to develop sponsorship participation and involvement.
  • Investigate fundraising opportunities.
  • Writes grants

Newsletter & Blog Coordinator (*new position)

  • Plan, organise, edit and write parts of the content for each Newsletter.
  • Communicate with other Board Members to gather content (writing, images, etc).
  • Design the Newsletter using MailChimp in an interesting way that reflects the Society’s branding.
  • Ensure all content is accurate and has been approved by the President or Vice President.
  • Aim to consistently produce newsletters as frequently as possible.
  • Ensure the Society’s ethics, values and mission are portrayed.
  • Try to include links to further information where possible.
